Acetone

Acetone is one of several solvents, including xylene, water, or denatured alcohol, used to reduce coating products (e.g., after having thoroughly mixed Parts A & B of a coating product, solvent is added and thoroughly re-mixed). Acetone is the preferred solvent in cold weather (below 40˚F). This solvent may also be applied to “soften” an existing coating prior to applying a “re-fresh” coat (e.g., a clear coat or new coating system).
