Xylene is one of several solvents, including acetone, water, and denatured alcohol, used to reduce coating products (e.g., after having thoroughly mixed Parts A & B of a coating product, solvent is added and thoroughly re-mixed). Although any solvent may be used outdoors, Xylene is the preferred solvent (unless odor remains an issue or it’s use is not permitted per state regulations).
